Antique Chimney Flue Cover
Victorian Era Art Print Wall Hanging
Portrait of a Gypsy Woman
Reverse Painted Glass in a Metal Frame
Most likely German
At the turn of the century and into the 1940s, families often removed their heating stove pipes during the warm months. Decorative flue covers were used to hide the unsightly openings. Most that I have seen were made in Germany, and popular images depicted women and children. Some were embellished with glitter, and sometimes the glass was painted on the reverse.
Approximately 7 3/4" diameter
The back painted glass and print are in very good condition. There is a little water damage on the backing panel and the chain needs to be re-attached to the frame.
