A circa 1930 Mardi Gras necklace. The tradition of tossing beads into the carnival crowd began in the early 1800s. In later years, the “throws” were made of plastic out of cost and safety concerns.
approximately 1/2" x 17"
Very nice vintage condition. Many of the black beads have irregular surfaces but I do not believe this is the result of damage.
