A Victorian Chimney Flue Cover, circa 1900, a lithograph in a metal frame with a glass cover and a chain for hanging. Most likely German.
.At the turn of the century and into the 1940s, families often removed their heating stove pipes during the warm months. Decorative flue covers were used to hide the unsightly openings. Most that I have seen were made in Germany, and popular images depicted women and children. Some were embellished with glitter, and sometimes the glass was painted on the reverse.
.approximately 8 1/2" diameter
.Excellent in spite of minor damage to the frame and paint loss and the print has slipped a bit. The original chain is intact.
